WONSWorking with women and their families to promote wellness

WONS: Nursing, Education and Health Promotion Service is committed to working with and assisting the community, other service providers and government to keep our women and their families well.

As such, the underlying philosophy for WONS is:

  • To focus on all important stakeholders to promote awareness and knowledge,
  • To instill the necessary attitudes in favour of women's and children's health, and
  • To encourage a change in behaviour in order to attain greater levels of health and well being of women and their families

This will be achieved by WONS excellence of service, in the four core service areas of WONS:

  • Health professional training and education
  • Provision of clinical services
  • Health promotion services in the community and
  • Provision of consultancy, advisory and research services

Key to this success will be an emphasis on working with communities of need to assist in enabling them to access culturally appropriate quality health care.
