FUNDRAISING / DONATIONS

WONS is partially funded by contracts with the Ministry of Health and Auckland District Health Boards. However WONS performs above and beyond their contractual obligations due to the demands and needs of the community we serve. YOUR donation makes a difference and we are very grateful. Donations over $5 can be claimed on income tax. Receipts available on request.

In a Year of the Life of WONS Charitable Trust we:

• Perform cervical smear tests on approximately 2,000 women (Maori 260, Pacific 230, Chinese 650, Korean 300, Caucasian 400)
  
• Approximately 90 abnormal tests
  
• Educate 4,500 women on a range of women’s health issues
  
• Deliver “Sister’s in Health” training, “Wahine Hauora hui / Women’s Health pamper days” in low income areas such as Glen Innes, Otara, Clendon and Helensville
  
• Developed the Wahine Hauora Kete: This adult learning kit is utilised throughout New Zealand to promote women’s health
  
• Employ Maori, Pacific and Asian staff to facilitate culturally appropriate health promotion and services in their communities
  
• Train approximately 1,000 primary health care professionals
