SISTERS IN HEALTH

Aim: To increase coverage and participation rates for Maori and Pacific Island women in cervical and breast cancer screening.

This community development model supports ownership of health promotion by the community.

Women in the community are invited to attend a one day workshop titled "Sisters in Health" Hui/Fono, to discuss ways to support their family, whanau, iwi, friends and workmates in gaining knowledge of cervical and breast cancer screening services. Free kete and gifts are given to each participant.

Women are then supported in their communities with resources, ongoing hui and education services to promote women's health services.
