Policy
The WONS management team is responsible for maintaining a pool of volunteers for the purpose of undertaking volunteer like tasks to assist the achievement of WONS goals.
Procedure
2.8.1 WONS has a process for the application, screening, orientation and training of volunteers consistent with the process for new WONS employees.
2.8.2 A database of volunteers available for WONS tasks is maintained by the volunteer manager.
2.8.3 There is no financial remuneration for volunteers however they are reimbursed at a rate of $10 per day where greater than four hours is worked thereby assisting volunteers with travel costs.
2.8.4 Volunteers efforts are rewarded through a 'volunteer of the month' system by which the selected volunteer is presented with a gift of appreciation.
2.8.5 Following their successful selection WONS volunteers must attend an orientation and training process consistent with that of new employees.
2.8.6 WONS volunteers are covered by WONS public liability insurance for the undertaking of WONS delegated duties.
2.8.7 WONS volunteers are to complete the annual performance review process as expected of all employees.
